Some things start with a big idea. Ours started with a garden.

When we first moved onto our farm in North Salem, we did what felt natural — we dug in. We planted. We grew. What began as a small backyard plot slowly became something neither of us expected: raised beds overflowing with vegetables, herbs spilling over their borders, and a farmstand that turned into a little gathering place for neighbors who wanted something real. Something honest. Something grown with actual care.

We've always believed food tastes better when you know where it came from. Our apple and peach orchards — trees that have been standing for over 50 years, long before we arrived — have a way of reminding you of that. There's something humbling about harvesting fruit from a tree older than you are. It puts you in your place in the best possible way.

We both grew up in this part of the world. We know these towns, these roads, these communities. We know what families here value — quality, thoughtfulness, and an appreciation for the finer things done simply and well. And we kept hearing the same thing from neighbors at the farmstand: where can we get food like this during the week?

That question stuck with us.

We didn't want to just answer it — we wanted to answer it the right way. So we reached out to someone whose name had been synonymous with great food in this area for over 20 years: Leslie Lampert, the founder of Ladle of Love in Mount Kisco.

If you've lived in Westchester or Fairfield for any length of time, you know Ladle of Love. Leslie has been feeding this community since 2003 — she's been on Oprah, on the Today Show, she's won the Forbes Enterprise Award, and she's earned more "Best of Westchester" nods than we can count. But what drew us to Leslie wasn't the accolades. It was the way she cooks. Simple ingredients. Real techniques. Food made with the kind of intention that you can actually taste.

When we sat down together, it just made sense. Her kitchen, our farm, one shared belief — that the families in these communities deserve better than what's easy. They deserve what's extraordinary.
